Represent remainders in different ways depending on the context of the problem (Part 1)

In this lesson, you will learn to interpret the remainder using the context of the problem being solved.

If you did short division yesterday, try this lesson: 

Division with remainders

Today we will explore how to interpret remainders in the context of a problem. We will begin with very simple numbers we can calculate mentally, reasoning whether the answer needs to be rounded to the next whole number or not before moving onto numbers suited to a short division strategy.




To write a diary

In this lesson, the children will review use of dashes for parenthesis, will analyse a piece of model writing to support this outcome before writing their next outcome in this unit, which is a diary entry from the viewpoint of the main character, Lyra




Read in an extreme place! We have had some fantastic photos of people reading in weird and wonderful places. Make sure you read for a minimum of 15 minutes and record it in your reading diary.
