Emmanuel Junior Academy supports many children with a wide range of additional and special needs. For some children these needs are ongoing, for others it may be a shorter term interaction.
Our key aim is to ensure that regular teaching for our children is right, providing a fun, purposeful curriculum driven by experiences, which inspires and promotes independence, and fosters individuality by encouraging all talents and abilities. We monitor progress regularly and work closely with parents to ensure that support is tailored to the individual. This can include additional in-class support, small group support or even one-to-one support. We aim for all the children to develop skills within and beyond the curriculum, so that they have the knowledge, self-confidence and freedom to become life-long learners with an inquisitive, 'have-a-go' mentality.
As well as providing a wide range of support in school, we link closely with other outside agencies to provide support for our children and their families. We enjoy close links with the Speech and Language Service, the Autism Support Service and Educational Psychologists. These services can provide advice and assessment when needed but also the reassurance to parents that school are catering well for our most vulnerable pupils. Through this approach, we ensure that the children will achieve their full potential with a desire and determination to learn and succeed.
