Guided Reading
Task 1 - Answer Question 6 - 10
Answer questions 6 - 10 on our text this week - The Fox and the Boastful Brave. You should have already now read the text quite a few times and started to form an understanding of the text. Look at each question and think about the skills you need to answer them successfully. Is it retrieval? Is it inference? Is it summarising the text? Is it word choice and meaning? Underline the key words in the question and answer in full sentences.
English
Task 1 - Write to Malala
Write to Malala about her speech. Tell her a little about yourself first. Explain what you liked and noticed about her speech. Explain how it made you feel and ask her some questions about her life and what she has accomplished. Think about your year 5 writing targets and last weeks learning of modal verbs. Could you include some modal verbs in your letter? Relative clause and parenthesis?
Task 2 - Fun Time Extra
Why not design a poster summarising what you learn about Malala? Please share these with us over on your portfolios!
Maths - Long Multiplication
Yesterday we should have practiced this skill after completing the word questions. Today you need to combine this skill with estimating.
Task 1 - Page 62 Estimate then Multiply
Tricky! This requires you to estimate first (give an appropriate guess) then carry out the calculation. To estimate accurately you may need to round the digits to the nearest 100 or 1000. If you are unsure on how to round check out the video below to remind you.
Task 2 - Fluency Fitness
Choose 1 or more of these fluency sheets to apply your multiplication and division skills to different problems. Enjoy and please share on your portfolios!
