Thursday 4th February

Thursday 4th February 2021

I have started putting times next to the lessons – these are by no means set in concrete but some children have asked for them to be used as a guide.

MORNING (8:50 to 11:55)

Guided Reading. (9:00 – 9:20)

With your class teacher following the morning registration zoom.

English  (9:20 – 10:20)

To practise speech punctuation. In this lesson, the children will improve a sentence as a warm-up activity before revising rules of speech. They will then write speech sentences for this final scene of the unit.

MUST: Include adverbs, powerful verbs and extra information (such as adverbials or relative clauses) to convey the character and to advance the action. THINK of our plate and chips in our speech burger analogy that we’ve used loads in class :-)

CHALLENGE: Try and use split speech sentences (remember: 2 sentences needs a full stop. One sentence needs commas)

BREAK (10:20 – 10:40)

Maths (10:40 – 11:40)

Strategies for subtraction

In this lesson pupils will review a range of strategies to solve subtraction problems. As always, see the Emmanuel website for any challenges (see the link below)

Alternatively, if you are not 100% confident in comparing numbers, have a go at this lesson:

Comparing 6-digit numbers using inequalities

In this lesson, we will use place value charts to identify the value of digits in 6-digit numbers. We will also add inequalities to equations with 6-digit numbers.

INDEPENDENT READING (11:40 – 12:00)

Read in an extreme place! We have had some fantastic photos of people reading in weird and wonderful places. Make sure you read for a minimum of 15 minutes and record it in your reading diary.

AFTERNOON (1:00 – 3:00)

REFLEX (1:00 – 1:15)
Try and complete 15 minutes of reflex.

ACTIVE LEARN (1:15 – 1:30)
Have a go at the games on Active Learn.

Personal, self and health education (PSHE) – (1:30 – 2:30)

My own workout

For this lesson, you are going to need some space around you and be full of energy! We will have another visit from Adam, the PT who will share some of his knowledge on exercise routines! Adam will demonstrate some key exercises and show us how to perform them. He will then teach us about the value of a good workout routine and help us create our own!

Afternoon zoom: 2:30 – 3:00

Optional after school activity

Download Duo Lingo onto your phone or tablet (it’s FREE!) and play games to learn another language. I’ve been learning French and I definitely know that it’s working! Tres bien!
