Tuesday 23rd Feb 2021.
Good morning everyone :-)
I have started putting times next to the lessons – these are by no means set in concrete but some children have asked for them to be used as a guide.
Please visit the Emmanuel website for any worksheets, word banks, extra resources and extra challenges.
You will need a copy of the Rabbit text. Today we will be reading the text again and deciphering some of the tricky vocabulary.
To explore subject, verb, object In this lesson,
PART 1- watch the video on Oak Academy
Part 2 - complete the 'subject, verb, object' worksheet on Emmanuel website
If you're still not 100% confident with apostrophe, try this lesson INSTEAD (don't do both!!!!)
To revise using apostrophes This lesson will build on our learning from Lesson 3 of the first outcome in this unit. We will explore how to use apostrophes for plural possession, investigate how and why we can use apostrophes for contraction and there will be plenty of games and sentence writing opportunities.
Decimals and measures: Standard Units In today’s lesson, we will learn to select and estimate the correct unit of measure and read scales measuring length, mass and volume.
Alternatively, if you are not 100% confident with finding the area and perimeter of rectangles, try this lesson (don't do both!!) : Calculate the area of rectangles. In this lesson, we will find the area of rectangles by counting squares and using arrays and multiplication. We will also compare the area of different rectangles, including squares.
INDEPENDENT READING (11:40 – 12:00)
Read in an extreme place! We have had some fantastic photos of people reading in weird and wonderful places. Make sure you read for a minimum of 15 minutes and record it in your reading diary.
AFTERNOON (1:00 – 3:00)
REFLEX (1:00 – 1:15)
Try and complete 15 minutes of reflex.
ACTIVE LEARN (1:15 – 1:30)
Have a go at the games on Active Learn.
Who was responsible for the death of Thomas Becket?
In this lesson, we are going to be learning about the people that contributed to Thomas Becket’s death. We are going to learn about King Henry II, his friendship with Becket and his struggle to take back power from the church. We will learn about how Henry and Becket’s relationship fell apart due to the struggle between the monarchy and the church and how this led to Becket’s death. This lesson covers murder. If this is a sensitive topic for your child then please make sure they are adequately supervised.
END OF DAY Zoom - 2:30pm.
