Welcome to Emmanuel Anglican/Methodist Junior Academy, a caring and welcoming Christian school at the heart of the Waterthorpe community in Sheffield. As a joint Anglican and Methodist school, we are proud of our strong Christian foundation, our commitment to inclusion and our ambition for every child to flourish and succeed.
At Emmanuel, our vision is rooted in the Christian call to love God and serve others through lives of compassion, justice and generosity. We are inspired by the words attributed to John Wesley:
"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
Our key biblical text is:
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people." (Galatians 6:10)
This vision shapes everything we do. We want every member of our school community to recognise opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of others, both within school and beyond. We strive to develop children who are confident, compassionate and courageous, who value themselves and others, who keep themselves and others safe, and who use their gifts to serve their community and the wider world.

We call this the "Emmanuel Way". These values underpin our approach to learning, behaviour, relationships, safeguarding and personal development. They help us create a culture where everyone is valued, everyone belongs and everyone is encouraged to be the very best version of themselves.
As a Key Stage 2 junior school serving children aged 7 to 11, we are fortunate to be part of the Emmanuel Complex alongside Emmanuel Church and Waterthorpe Nursery and Infant School. We enjoy strong partnerships with our church, families, local community and the The Diocese of Sheffield Academies Trust (DSAT), all of which enrich the experiences and opportunities available to our children.
At Emmanuel, learning is at the heart of everything we do. We are ambitious for every child, regardless of their starting point or background. Our curriculum is designed to be meaningful, memorable and engaging, helping children to develop secure knowledge, strong skills and a lifelong love of learning. Alongside academic success, we place great importance on character development, personal growth and wellbeing. We want our pupils to leave Emmanuel not only with strong foundations for their future education, but also with the confidence, resilience and compassion to make a positive contribution to society.
We are particularly proud of the warm and caring community that exists within our school. Our staff know our children well and work hard to ensure that every child feels safe, supported and valued. We believe that children thrive when they feel happy, secure and understood, and we are committed to supporting the whole child through high-quality teaching, pastoral care, enrichment opportunities, sport, music, collective worship and strong partnerships with families.
One of the greatest strengths of Emmanuel is our children. They are kind, enthusiastic, welcoming and full of potential. Every day they demonstrate our values through their friendships, their learning, their service to others and their willingness to embrace new opportunities. They make our school a very special place to be.
