Our Vision and Values
Emmanuel is a joint Anglican and Methodist School.
Our vision is rooted in the Christian call to love God and serve others through lives of compassion, justice and generosity.
We are inspired by the guidance attributed to John Wesley to:
"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
We seek to nurture a community where every child and adult is encouraged to flourish and to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Our key biblical text is Galatians 6:10:
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people."
This verse reminds us that doing good is not simply an occasional act but a way of life. It calls Christians to recognise opportunities to show kindness, serve others and contribute to the common good. In our school, this shapes our relationships, our curriculum and our commitment to ensuring that every member of our community is valued, supported and encouraged to thrive.
The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) brings this vision to life. Jesus teaches that loving our neighbour means showing compassion without barriers or conditions. The Samaritan notices another's need, responds with courage and generosity, and acts with practical care. His example challenges us to be a community that welcomes all, celebrates difference and responds with kindness and justice whenever people need help.
As a joint Methodist and Anglican school, we draw on the rich traditions of both Churches. The Methodist tradition emphasises that faith is lived out through practical acts of love and service, reflecting John Wesley's conviction that God's grace transforms people to "do all the good" they can.
The Anglican tradition calls us to live out the Church's mission by living out the gospel of Christ, loving our neighbours and transforming communities through compassionate action. Together, these traditions affirm that Christian faith is expressed through relationships characterised by dignity, respect, forgiveness and hope.
Our vision encourages every member of our school community to recognise that they are created in the image of God and are called to use their unique gifts in the service of others. Through learning, worship, service and everyday interactions, we seek to develop children who are confident, compassionate, respectful and courageous, and who take responsibility for keeping themselves and others safe. We aim to nurture people who notice those in need, act with integrity, build positive relationships and strive to make the world a better place.

Guided by Wesley's call to "do all the good you can", inspired by the example of the Good Samaritan and grounded in the words of Galatians 6:10, we aspire to be a flourishing Christian community where everyone is encouraged to seize every opportunity to do good, enabling all to flourish together in God's love.
